Pauline Stern-Hauf

Conformation – Pauline Stern-Hauf
Van deHoge Laer Kennels, Belgium

Pauline Stern-Hauf has judges Belgians all over the world.
She trained one of her dogs to the IPO 3 level and used to teach puppy classes.
For many years, she has been a member of the Dutch committee and a working group committee.  She also enjoys scuba diving and reading.  Pauline and her husband Jean Louis Vandenbemden breed under the kennel name Van de Hoge Laer. Their home is in the very small village of Bornival, next to Feluy-Arquennes Belgium
Our dogs are mainly housedogs that spend little time in kennels.  Our dogs will only be bred if we think they are suitable (in our opinion not all are) so we also have pet dogs and couch potatoes who we love as much as our major winners.  During weekends, we often go to dog shows.  We also have a small training group together with some friends and other breeders.  Whenever we can we go out to do some tracking, obedience, and fun stuff with our dogs.

Ramona Kraft Sweepstakes - Ramona Kraft, Washington, USA

I have been owned by Belgians since 1983. Mainly Groenendaels, but also a Malinois way back when. I breed under the name Verseau and have bred/owned National Specialty winners and Selects, Group winners, and placers, Top Twenty dogs in conformation and an Agility MACH. Mostly though, I love the breed and can’t think of anything else I’d rather have. Currently, my husband and I reside with 3 Belgian Groenendaels, and 2 cats. I am the Regional Show Chair for the Pacific NW and I am also on the Board of the Belgian Sheepdog Club of America and a member of the American Belgian Tervuren Club.

Case Laan Agility Trial - Case Laan, Maple Ridge, BC

I have been happily involved in the sport of agility since 1991.  I began agility training with my dog as a prelude to search and rescue work, and enjoyed it so much I never left!  I began judging in 1996 as an opportunity to learn more about agility and to meet more dog/handler teams.  I judge at all levels of both AAC and CKC agility and have been able to travel all across Canada, meeting many wonderful people in this sport.

My most memorable moments in agility include competing and placing second with my Tervuren, Neeka, at the first AAC Nationals held in 2001 at Spruce Meadows, Alberta, as well as running with my Sheltie, Storm, with the first and second teams to represent Canada at the FCI World Championships in 2003 & 2004.

When designing courses, I like to develop a course that offers a nice flow, and then the challenges arise from the speed that the team can acquire on the course.  The ultimate pleasure when I judge is to be able to watch a team run a fast course with communication and unison.

Karen Brearly

Obedience – Karen Brearly, Aldergrove, BC

I took my first obedience class with a Golden Retriever named Brew but never showed him. It wasn't until our first Tervuren in "93 that I was introduced into the world of competitive obedience. My Tervurens and Pomeranians have brought home High in Class and High in Trial wins. We also compete in conformation, herding and rally. Our newest addition is a Sheltie who finished her championship, earned a rally and herding title all before a year of age. I am certified to judge in all levels of obedience as well as rally and am a CGN Evaluator. I volunteer as an instructor for the Junior Kennel Club and also as an Evaluator for the St. John's Pet Therapy Program. My "George" is a member of the program and visits in care homes and hospitals. I love that my dogs can make people laugh.

ChelseaJunior Handling – Chelsea Birmingham,
Victoria, BC

My name is Chelsea and I am a second year student at Camosun College.  I started showing dogs when I was ten, and quickly formed an addiction to the dog show world.  The rest of my family was bitten by the ‘dog show bug’ as well, and my mom has been breeding Belgian Shepherds under the Nightreasure prefix ever since.

During my time competing in Juniors, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the BCSW Junior Handling Zone Finals each year, winning the honour of Top Junior Handler twice.  I competed at the Canadian Junior Nationals in 2005 in Kingston, Ontario, and most recently  in Brantford, Ontario this past winter,  placing third showing West Highland White Terrier  MBIS Am/Can Ch. Skyehigh's MKC Bonaparte.

When I am not travelling at dog shows, I am busy with school and my part time job at Thrifty Foods.  I am honoured to be judging Juniors at the 2010 Canadian Belgian Shepherd National Specialty.
